What is counselling?
We all have stresses and struggles in our life. Counselling is a space for you to explore your experiences, feelings and emotions. It is a space where you are the focus and are free to explore whatever is weighing you down. My job is to listen and support you through whatever you are facing; I am not here to offer opinions or advice but to walk alongside you as you explore, offering support and encouragement with understanding, compassion, and empathy. Your job is to talk, honestly, openly and without fear – to say the things out loud that you have kept hidden inside. All I ask is that you are brave, open to change, and willing to engage in the journey.
Who do I work with?
I work with adults and teenagers. Issues that I can help you with include: Abuse, Addiction, Anxiety, Bereavement and loss, Bullying, Communication issues, Depression, Emotional distress, Family breakdown, Identity, Life transitions, OCD, Relationships, Self-esteem, Sexual anxiety, Self-harm, Self-development, School issues and exams, Stress, Suicidal Thoughts, Trauma
What to expect?
I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation by phone where we can explore if we are comfortable to work together. Counselling is currently online via Zoom or by phone. Counselling is most effective when attended weekly. Sessions are 50 minutes in length and will be scheduled for the same time each week. I usually suggest working for 6 sessions and then a review. Some people find 6 sessions is enough, others have counselling for months or even years.
